I signed up to run a marathon in New Orleans. This is a sampling of my daily mental preparation.
“There’s no way I can run a marathon.”
“I can do it, I can run a marathon.”
“26.2 miles – you have to be joking.”
“I think I can do it.”
“It’s going to be hard and maybe scary.”
“I can do it.”
“Are you crazy?”
“Just a little further every run and I’ll have it.”
“No way.”
“Way.”
Some days it ends with “No way,” others, “Way.”
Argh.
